SoundWaves Music Competition UK Founder

Jamie Devine founded one of the largest music competitions for new music back in 2013 and is a 32-year-old music studio exec, TV producer and musician. At a young age, he discovered his love for music and later went onto perform his own shows at O2 Academy Newcastle, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and many local venues as well as radio stations around the world.

Jamie has studied music extensively throughout his career including Artist Development at Access To Music in York, and London Centre of Contemporary Music working with artists who have appeared on national TV and radio, and around the same time he discovered his passion for helping bands, singers and musicians get exposure for their music and founded SoundWaves Music Competition UK which quickly turned into one of the largest new music competitions in the UK and sold out gigs at the famous O2 Academy Venues.

Recently, Jamie has been working behind the scenes in some of the biggest TV shows in the UK including for major broadcasters on some of the UK's largest TV Formats.

He has also worked personally with some of the most sought after music experts in the world including Seth Riggs in person at his Los Angeles studio, Brett Manning and Claude McKnight of Take 6. Jamie has recorded in many top recording studios including the world-famous Clear Lake Recording Studios in Hollywood, California.

His unique and rare ability to unlock music potential is clear from the outset. Jamie loves building the confidence of his clients and specialises in the development of style, stage presence, impeccable vocal/instrument technique as well as getting the best performance in the recording studio.

When he is not working in TV, he works at his studio delivering music lessons and voice technique lessons, as well as keeping an eye out for new talent to work with.

Jamie founded this competition to nurture music and promote the benefits of music, as well as give impartial technical music industry feedback to music talent and promoting new talent.

Our Story

SoundWaves Music Competition UK was created with a simple vision: to give talented unsigned artists a genuine platform to perform, develop and be discovered.

What began as a live music competition local to County Durham has grown into a national event by 2020, attracting around 1,000 applications every year from solo artists, bands, duos, groups and DJs across the UK. Over the years, the competition has hosted live showcases in cities including London, Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds and Glasgow, with finalists performing at renowned venues such as the O2 Academy main stages. We have secured media coverage for many musical acts, just Google our press releases.

As the music industry has evolved, so has SoundWaves Music Competition UK. The competition expanded beyond live auditions to become a nationwide platform, making it possible for artists from anywhere in the UK to take part while continuing to provide live performance opportunities for those who progress through the competition.

Today we are back with a new format, SoundWaves is about far more than winning a title, and has developed into an online competition only, focusing on talent feedback. Every entrant receives constructive industry feedback, something which makes the online competition stand out from the rest.

From its early years to today, SoundWaves Music Competition UK has remained committed to discovering and developing emerging talent, providing thousands of musicians with opportunities to grow their confidence, showcase their music and take the next step in their careers.
